Mistresses

It's the final episode of the series and the women have much to think about. For instance, Siobhan (Orla Brady) can't understand why her husband Hari wants a divorce after finding out that she picked up strangers in hotel bars for sex. Hmm, tough one. Then there's Katie (Sarah Parish), the world's least observant doctor, who lives in a house made entirely of glass: she kisses her boss/ex-lover in public at work, then is shocked when she's spotted by her current boyfriend and he dumps her. Who'd have thought it? Still, though Mistresses is possibly the most witless drama in the history of television, it's hard to dislike, mainly because you know exactly where you are with it. Thus I guarantee that this last instalment will yet again live down to your expectations, as it did mine, when we must say goodbye to a glossy world of coloured tights, gorgeous glass lamp-bases and terrible dialogue. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

The Grave Shift

It's Dr Raymond Langston's first day at work in the CSI lab and he's tackling a case straight away. Which is a bit of a stretch, as surely he hasn't had any CSI training? And isn't he a forensic psychologist , not a scientist? Ah well, this is CSI land: they do things differently here. Poor Langston (a stolid Laurence Fishburne) is confronted with what is delicately described by Nick Stokes as a "crispy critter", a corpse burned beyond recognition after a gas explosion. By CSI standards, it's a slow episode with a back-to-basics feel (everything has to be explained to Langston). And there's a Gil Grissom-sized hole where Gil Grissom should be.
